Very first point is what's The Alternative? When I can't attain the motivation to work out, I often think of the choice. I mean the alternative of stopping working out all together. I did that once. I was in the middle of a main career transition from cooking to computer indoctrination. I gave it all I had. For six years I pretty much just forgot all about working out and exercising. I was very young, kept eating very well, and didn't seem to bear many ill effects. I did vaguely observe there were a few things I started lifting with both hands that I used to lift with one, but I didn't think about it much.

40 Days To Get In Shape: Then one of my programming buddies got me interested in mount climbing. It sounded like such an bracing counterbalance to living on my computer keyboard I got very excited about the idea. So we did our research and found a indispensable climbing course we both signed up for. Due to our luck timing, we had about forty days to get in shape for climbing before we would actually start to hit the slopes with our scheduled class. They guaranteed us that gave us a lot of time to get in shape as long we started right away, so I did. And then it hit me.

I'm out of shape! I had never seen my out of shape before. I didn't seem too bad, but my endurance was gone. My air was gone. If I jogged 20 yards I had to stop and grasp my breath. And it took a while before I could take breaths normally and stand up straight! And it was painful. My chest ache, my legs hurt, my head ache... I was shocked. I couldn't believe how tough I was finding getting back into even a reasonably good level of physical fitness. It was painful and grueling andvery difficult. It was so hurting that I never forgot it and I vowed never to get that far out of shape ever again and, so far at least, I never have. When I can't find the motivation to work out I imitate on the alternative, not exercising any more. This nearly always gets my butt in cog.

Remember What Exercise Can Help Us Avoid: Exercise can also help us feel sturdy energized, confident and well in a variety of ways. I also appreciate how exercise makes me feel pain. It makes me not feel to excess of little, inexplicable aches and pains, out of breath after slight exertion, stiff and tight, wary to leap over little obstacles in a single bound, prone to pulled muscles or generally groggy and irritable. I know it's more politically correct to focus on the fine yet sometimes it helps to jog our memories back to what got some of us started thinking about exercising in the first place...
